Process Miner – Metrics
To assist in analysing process variants and what the impact of certain variants may be on performance, metrics can be defined for tasks and incorporated into the Process Model, and subsequently available for Filtering purposes within the Process Explorer. For example, ‘% Met Resolve SLA’ can be a metric which will allow analysis of process variants that did not meet SLA, vs process variants that did met SLA
To create an Metric, open the ‘Metrics module within the ‘Process Miner’ application. There are 3 types of metrics; Activity Count, Duration and True/False . The definition of a Metric varies based on the type selected;
Activity Count
Activity Count metrics look at how many times a defined activity occurred to a task e.g. how many times it was reassigned or re-opened, or how many times it breached SLA.
Field | Description |
Metric | The name of the metric |
Description | The description of the metric |
Type | ‘Activity Count’ |
Source | Specified whether the source is an actual field or the evaluation of a filter |
Table | If Source = ‘Field’ The table containing the required field |
Field | If Source = ‘Field’ The field containing the value for the metric |
Filter | If Source = ‘Filter’ Specified the condition which is to be counted |
Duration
Duration metrics derive their value directly from a task field e.g. the business or calendar duration of a task
Field | Description |
Metric | The name of the metric |
Description | The description of the metric |
Type | ‘Duration’ |
Table | The task table containing the duration field |
Field | The duration field |
Duration Unit | The time unit in which to store the duration |
True/False
A ‘True/False’ metric looks at either a boolean field in the task table, or the evaluation of a filter related to the task table
Field | Description |
Metric | The name of the metric |
Description | The description of the metric |
Type | ‘True/False |
Source | Specified whether the source is an actual field or the evaluation of a filter |
Table | If Source = ‘Field’ The table containing the required field |
Field | If Source = ‘Field’ The field containing the value for the metric |
Filter | If Source = ‘Filter’ Specified the condition which is to be evaluated for true/false |
